Details
A vulnerability was found in Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning up to 12.2 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component SQL Database Interface. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability in the web framework code for the SQL database interface of the Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning application could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to impact the confidentiality and integrity of the application by executing arbitrary SQL queries, aka SQL Injection. The attacker could read or write information from the SQL database. The vulnerability is due to a lack of proper validation on user-supplied input within SQL queries. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted URLs that contain malicious SQL statements to the affected application. An exploit could allow the attacker to determine the presence of certain values and write malicious input in the SQL database. The attacker would need to have valid user credentials. This vulnerability affects Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning Software Releases prior to 12.3. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvf47935.
The bug was discovered 11/01/2017. The weakness was presented 11/02/2017 as cisco-sa-20171101-cpcp as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-12276 since 08/03/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 104462 (Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning < 12.3 Authenticated SQL Injection Vulnerability (cisco-sa-20171101-cpcp)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
