Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2) allows reinstallation of the Pairwise Transient Key (PTK) Temporal Key (TK) during the four-way handshake, allowing an attacker within radio range to replay, decrypt, or spoof frames.
The bug was discovered 10/16/2017. The weakness was disclosed 10/31/2017 by Mathy Vanhoef as HT208221 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-13077 since 08/22/2017. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1211. The advisory points out:
