Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 4.13.11 (Operating System). It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function imon_probe of the file drivers/media/rc/imon.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The imon_probe function in drivers/media/rc/imon.c in the Linux kernel through 4.13.11 allows local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted system calls.
