Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 4.13.11 (Operating System) and classified as critical. This issue affects the function cx231xx_usb_probe of the file drivers/media/usb/cx231xx/cx231xx-cards.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
The cx231xx_usb_probe function in drivers/media/usb/cx231xx/cx231xx-cards.c in the Linux kernel through 4.13.11 allows local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted system calls.
