A vulnerability has been found in Apple macOS up to 10.13.0 (Operating System) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component CFNetwork. An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. macOS before 10.13.1 is affected. The issue involves the "CFNetwork" component. It allows attackers to execute arbitrary code in a privileged context or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted app.
The bug was discovered 10/31/2017. The weakness was released 11/13/2017 as HT208221 as confirmed security advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-13833 since 08/30/2017. Attacking locally is a requirement. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

Upgrading to version 10.13.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 4 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
