A vulnerability classified as critical was found in NullSoft WinAmp up to 5.08c (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality in the library in_cdda.dll. Stack-based buffer overflow in the in_cdda.dll plugin for Winamp 5.0 through 5.08c allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via a cda:// URL with a long (1) device name or (2) sound track number, as demonstrated with a .m3u or .pls playlist file.
The bug was discovered 01/12/2005. The weakness was presented 01/12/2005 by NSFOCUS with Nullsoft (Website). The advisory is shared for download at forums.winamp.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-1150 since 12/07/2004. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
