An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. iOS before 11.2 is affected. macOS before 10.13.2 is affected. tvOS before 11.2 is affected. The issue involves the "Kernel" component. It allows local users to bypass intended memory-read restrictions or cause a denial of service (system crash).
The bug was discovered 12/21/2017. The weakness was released 12/27/2017 by Jann Horn with Google Project Zero (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-7154 since 03/17/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication.
