A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Google Android up to 8.1 (Smartphone Operating System). Affected is some unknown processing of the component Media Framework. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 01/05/2018. The weakness was disclosed 01/02/2018 with Trend Micro as Android Security Bulletin - January 2018 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at source.android.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-13195 since 08/23/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
