A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in jQuery 3.0.0-rc.1 (JavaScript Library). Affected is some unknown processing of the component Attribute Name Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. jQuery before 3.0.0 is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) due to removing a logic that lowercased attribute names. Any attribute getter using a mixed-cased name for boolean attributes goes into an infinite recursion, exceeding the stack call limit.
The bug was discovered 05/30/2016. The weakness was presented 01/18/2018 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com.
