A vulnerability was found in X.org X11 Server up to 1.19.4 (Windowing System Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component XINERAMA Extension. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. xorg-x11-server before 1.19.5 was missing length validation in XINERAMA extension allowing malicious X client to cause X server to crash or possibly execute arbitrary code.
The bug was discovered 10/12/2017. The weakness was published 01/24/2018 as Bug 1509225 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-12184 since 08/01/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack.
