A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in WildFly up to 9.x (Application Server Software). This vulnerability affects the function org.wildfly.extension.undertow.deployment.ServletResourceManager.getResource. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability (File). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. A flaw was found in Wildfly 9.x. A path traversal vulnerability through the org.wildfly.extension.undertow.deployment.ServletResourceManager.getResource method could lead to information disclosure of arbitrary local files.
The bug was discovered 12/21/2017. The weakness was disclosed 01/24/2018 as Bug 1528361 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-1047 since 12/04/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
