A vulnerability was found in FreeBSD 9.2 (Operating System) and classified as problematic. The qls_eioctl function in sys/dev/qlxge/qls_ioctl.c in the kernel in FreeBSD 10 and earlier does not validate a certain size parameter, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory via a crafted ioctl call.
The bug was discovered 11/12/2013. The weakness was released 11/16/2013 by x90c as XADV-2013006 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at x90c.org. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-6833 since 11/20/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
