The bug was discovered 01/31/2018. The weakness was shared 02/02/2018 by Janjua, Mike Erman, Jack Backer and Alexander Gonzalez as ESA-2018-015 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at emc.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-1185 since 12/06/2017. An attack has to be approached locally. The requirement for exploitation is a single authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
