A vulnerability was found in Google Chrome (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component PDFium. The manipulation as part of a PDF File leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. A use after free in PDFium in Google Chrome prior to 62.0.3202.62 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted PDF file.
The bug was discovered 10/17/2017. The weakness was presented 02/07/2018 by Kushal Arvind Shah (xisigr) with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-5126 since 01/02/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 02/06/2023). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
