A vulnerability has been found in Exiv2 0.26 (Image Processing Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function Exiv2::IptcData::printStructure of the file iptc.cpp. The manipulation as part of a TIFF File leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. In Exiv2 0.26, there is a heap-based buffer over-read in the Exiv2::IptcData::printStructure function in iptc.cpp. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service via a crafted TIFF file.
The bug was discovered 12/10/2017. The weakness was published 02/12/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-17724 since 12/17/2017.
