In utils.c in zsh before 5.0.6, there is a buffer overflow when scanning very long directory paths for symbolic links.
The bug was discovered 01/20/2014. The weakness was released 02/27/2018 with Red Hat (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at sourceforge.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-10072 since 02/27/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
