A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in 389-ds-base up to 1.3.6.12/1.3.7.8/1.4.0.4. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component LDAP Search Filter. The manipulation as part of a LDAP Request leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. A stack buffer overflow flaw was found in the way 389-ds-base 1.3.6.x before 1.3.6.13, 1.3.7.x before 1.3.7.9, 1.4.x before 1.4.0.5 handled certain LDAP search filters. A remote, unauthenticated attacker could potentially use this flaw to make ns-slapd crash via a specially crafted LDAP request, thus resulting in denial of service.
The bug was discovered 01/31/2018. The weakness was published 03/01/2018 as Bug 1531573 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com.
