A flaw was found in the 389 Directory Server that allows users to cause a crash in the LDAP server using ldapsearch with server side sort.
The bug was discovered 08/07/2018. The weakness was published 09/11/2018 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-10935 since 05/09/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is required for exploitation.
