Dell EMC Isilon versions between 8.1.0.0 - 8.1.0.1, 8.0.1.0 - 8.0.1.2, and 8.0.0.0 - 8.0.0.6, versions 7.2.1.x, and version 7.1.1.11 is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Cluster description of the OneFS web administration interface. A malicious administrator may potentially inject arbitrary HTML or JavaScript code in the user's browser session in the context of the OneFS website.

The bug was discovered 02/14/2018. The weakness was presented 03/26/2018 by Core Security with Core Security Consulting Services as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-1186 since 12/06/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

A public exploit has been developed by Core Security and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com.
