Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Web Content Manager (WCM) UI in IBM WebSphere Portal 6.1.0.x through 6.1.0.6 CF27, 6.1.5.x through 6.1.5.3 CF27, 7.0.0.x through 7.0.0.2 CF26, and 8.0.0.x before 8.0.0.1 CF09 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors involving IFRAME elements.
The weakness was disclosed 12/20/2013 as swg21660011 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-6328 since 10/31/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
It is declared as highly functional. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 87241 (IBM WebSphere Portal WCM Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability).
Applying the patch PM96345 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at ibm.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
