A vulnerability was found in Juniper Junos Space up to 13.3R1.7 (Router Operating System). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown function of the component MySQL Server. The MySQL server in Juniper Networks Junos Space before 13.3R1.8 has an unspecified account with a hardcoded password, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information and consequently obtain administrative control by leveraging database access.
The bug was discovered 11/05/2014. The weakness was released 04/06/2018 with Minded Security (Website). The advisory is shared for download at kb.juniper.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-3413 since 05/07/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1110.001.
A public exploit has been developed in Perl. The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. Upgrading to version 13.3R1.8 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
