A vulnerability has been found in Nagios XI up to 5.2.x/5.4.12 (Log Management Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Core Config Manager. The manipulation of the argument selInfoKey1 as part of a Parameter leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in the core config manager in Nagios XI 5.2.x through 5.4.x before 5.4.13 allows an attacker to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the selInfoKey1 parameter.
The bug was discovered 03/13/2018. The weakness was released 04/18/2018 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at assets.nagios.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-8734 since 03/15/2018. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
