A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Fyodor Nmap up to 7.60 (Security Testing Software). This issue affects an unknown code of the component http-fetch. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. nmap version 6.49BETA6 through 7.60, up to and including SVN revision 37147 contains a Directory Traversal vulnerability in NSE script http-fetch that can result in file overwrite as the user is running it. This attack appears to be exploitable via a victim that runs NSE script http-fetch against a malicious web site. This vulnerability appears to have been fixed in 7.7.
