An issue was discovered in ext/phar/phar_object.c in PHP before 5.6.36, 7.0.x before 7.0.30, 7.1.x before 7.1.17, and 7.2.x before 7.2.5. There is Reflected XSS on the PHAR 403 and 404 error pages via request data of a request for a .phar file. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2018-5712.
The bug was discovered 04/26/2018. The weakness was published 04/29/2018 with cPanel (Website). The advisory is shared at php.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-10547 since 04/29/2018. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Upgrading to version 5.6.36, 7.0.30, 7.1.17 or 7.2.5 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 3 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
