A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the file libavformat/segafilm.c of the component Header Reading Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-404. The issue has been introduced in 10/29/2013. The weakness was presented 01/06/2014 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as segafilm: fix leaks if reading the header fails as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.videolan.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the project team. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
