Details
A vulnerability has been found in EMC RSA Authentication Manager, RSA Operation Console and RSA Self-Service Console up to 8.3 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code. The manipulation as part of a Host Header leads to a redirect vulnerability (Cache Poisoning). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
RSA Authentication Manager Security Console, Operation Console and Self-Service Console, version 8.3 and earlier, is affected by a Host header injection vulnerability. This could allow a remote attacker to potentially poison HTTP cache and subsequently redirect users to arbitrary web domains.
The bug was discovered 05/04/2018. The weakness was released 05/08/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-1248 since 12/06/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
