A vulnerability was found in Nagios XI up to 5.4.12 (Log Management Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the file admin/logbook.php. The manipulation of the argument txtSearch as part of a Parameter leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. A SQL injection issue was discovered in Nagios XI before 5.4.13 via the admin/logbook.php txtSearch parameter.
The bug was discovered 05/03/2018. The weakness was released 05/16/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at seebug.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-10737 since 05/04/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 13 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:admin/logbook.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11992 (Nagios XI SQL Injection vulnerability).
Upgrading to version 5.4.13 eliminates this vulnerability.
