Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in restafary up to 1.6.0 on Node.js (JavaScript Library). This affects an unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:
restafary is a REpresentful State Transfer API for Creating, Reading, Using, Deleting files on a server from the web. Restafary before 1.6.1 is able to set up a root path, which should only allow it to run inside of that root path it specified.
The bug was discovered 03/28/2016. The weakness was presented 05/31/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at nodesecurity.io. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-10528 since 10/29/2017. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
