A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Droppy up to 3.4.x on Node.js (JavaScript Library). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component WebSocket Handler. The manipulation as part of a WebSocket Request leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability (Cross-Domain). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-352. Droppy versions <3.5.0 does not perform any verification for cross-domain websocket requests. An attacker is able to make a specially crafted page that can send requests as the context of the currently logged in user. For example this means the malicious user could add a new admin account under his control and delete others.
The bug was discovered 03/28/2016. The weakness was shared 05/31/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at nodesecurity.io. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-10529 since 10/29/2017.
