Unspecified vulnerability in Oracle Java SE 5.0u55, 6u65, and 7u45; Java SE Embedded 7u45; and OpenJDK 7 allows remote attackers to affect availability via vectors related to CORBA. NOTE: the previous information is from the January 2014 CPU. Oracle has not commented on third-party claims that com.sun.corba.se and its sub-packages are not included on the restricted package list.

This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-5896 since 09/18/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1499.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 72298 (Amazon Linux AMI : java-1.7.0-openjdk (ALAS-2014-280)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 185058 (HP-UX Running Java7 Multiple Vulnerabilities (HPSBUX02972)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
