Oracle has not commented on third-party claims that the issue is related to an incorrect check for code permissions by CORBA stub factories.

This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-5884 since 09/18/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 72298 (Amazon Linux AMI : java-1.7.0-openjdk (ALAS-2014-280)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks.
