Memory Corruption was discovered in the cmsgpack library in the Lua subsystem in Redis before 3.2.12, 4.x before 4.0.10, and 5.x before 5.0 RC2 because of stack-based buffer overflows.

The bug was discovered 06/14/2018. The weakness was presented 06/17/2018 by Security Team with Apple (Website). The advisory is shared for download at antirez.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-11218 since 05/16/2018. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
