Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Oracle Communications Operations Monitor 3.4/4.0 (Cloud Software) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Redis. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was disclosed 04/16/2019 as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - April 2019 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-11219. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 11/10/2024).

As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 210278 (RHEL 7 : redis (RHSA-2019:0094)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 237091 (Red Hat Update for redis (RHSA-2019:0052)).

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (210278) and SecurityFocus (BID 104553†). The entries VDB-119623, VDB-119628, VDB-119629 and VDB-133580 are pretty similar. Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
