Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0 and Outlook 2000, with the security zone set to Internet Zone, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary programs via an HTML email with the CODEBASE parameter set to the program, a vulnerability similar to CAN-2002-0077.
The weakness was disclosed 02/24/2003 by http-equiv with malware.com as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2003-1378 since 10/18/2007. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
