A vulnerability has been found in WAGO e!DISPLAY 762-3000, e!DISPLAY 762-3001, e!DISPLAY 762-3002 and e!DISPLAY 762-3003 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Web Server. The manipulation as part of a Request leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. An issue was discovered on WAGO e!DISPLAY 762-3000 through 762-3003 devices with firmware before FW 02. The vulnerability can be exploited by authenticated and unauthenticated users by sending special crafted requests to the web server allowing injecting code within the WBM. The code will be rendered and/or executed in the browser of the user's browser.
The bug was discovered 07/11/2018. The weakness was presented 07/12/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-12981 since 06/28/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
