A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been declared as very critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function ff_flac_parse_picture of the file libavformat/flac_picture.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The weakness was disclosed 01/31/2014 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as avformat/flac_picture: allocate buffer padding for picture as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.videolan.org. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the project team. The exploitation appears to be difficult.
