The Content Security Policy (CSP) implementation in Mozilla Firefox before 27.0 and SeaMonkey before 2.24 operates on XSLT stylesheets according to style-src directives instead of script-src directives, which might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary XSLT code by leveraging insufficient style-src restrictions.
The weakness was released 02/04/2014 by Frederik Braun with Mozilla as MFSA2014-07 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-1485 since 01/16/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 72312 (FreeBSD : mozilla -- multiple vulnerabilities (1753f0ff-8dd5-11e3-9b45-b4b52fce4ce8)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
