A vulnerability was found in Apache Commons FileUpload up to 1.3.0 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file MultipartStream.java of the component Content-Type Header for Multi-Part Request Handler. MultipartStream.java in Apache Commons FileUpload before 1.3.1, as used in Apache Tomcat, JBoss Web, and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and CPU consumption) via a crafted Content-Type header that bypasses a loop s intended exit conditions.

The weakness was shared 02/06/2014 by Hitachi Incident Response Team with JPCERT as Re: ***UNCHECKED*** Re: VN: JVN#14876762 / TN: JPCERT#90213603 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at markmail.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-0050 since 12/03/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
