The iCloud subsystem in Apple iOS before 7.1 allows physically proximate attackers to bypass an intended password requirement, and turn off the Find My iPhone service or complete a Delete Account action and then associate this service with a different Apple ID account, by entering an arbitrary iCloud Account Password value and a blank iCloud Account Description value.

The weakness was published 02/05/2014 by Bradley Williams (bwilliams210) as Security flaw in Find My iPhone iCloud Lock BYPASS as confirmed video (Youtube). The advisory is available at youtu.be. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-2019 since 02/18/2014. Local access is required to approach this attack. A authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by Bradley Williams (bwilliams210) and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at youtu.be. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.

It is possible to mitigate the problem by adding Passcode/Touch ID as an authentication mechanism. It appears that this issue is fixed in iOS 7.1 Beta 5.
