A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Python 2.7/3.3.3 (Programming Language Software). This affects the function sock_recvfrom_into. Buffer overflow in the socket.recvfrom_into function in Modules/socketmodule.c in Python 2.5 before 2.7.7, 3.x before 3.3.4, and 3.4.x before 3.4rc1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted string.
The weakness was published 01/14/2014 by Ryan Smith-Roberts (rmsr) as buffer overflow in socket.recvfrom_into as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at bugs.python.org. The public release has been coordinated with the project team. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-1912 since 02/07/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy.
