Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Linux Kernel 2.6.10/2.6.11 Rc1 Bk6 (Operating System). Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the file n_tty.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Linux kernel 2.6.10 and 2.6.11rc1-bk6 uses different size types for offset arguments to the proc_file_read and locks_read_proc functions, which leads to a heap-based buffer overflow when a signed comparison causes negative integers to be used in a positive context.
