A vulnerability was found in OCS Inventory NG up to 2.5. It has been rated as critical. Unrestricted file upload (with remote code execution) in require/mail/NotificationMail.php in Webconsole in OCS Inventory NG OCS Inventory Server through 2.5 allows a privileged user to gain access to the server via a template file containing PHP code, because file extensions other than .html are permitted.
The bug was discovered 08/01/2018. The weakness was shared 08/06/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-14857 since 08/02/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1608.002 for this issue.
