A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in FFmpeg 2.0 (Multimedia Processing Software). Affected is the function mpegts_write_pmt. The mpegts_write_pmt function in the MPEG2 transport stream (aka DVB) muxer (libavformat/mpegtsenc.c) in FFmpeg, possibly 2.1 and earlier, allows remote attackers to have unspecified impact and vectors, which trigger an out-of-bounds write.

The issue has been introduced in 07/11/2013. The weakness was presented 02/13/2014 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as avformat/mpegtsenc: Check data array size in mpegts_write_pmt() as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.videolan.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-2263 since 02/28/2014. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 217 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
