A vulnerability was found in Pacemaker up to 1.1.15. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code of the component IPC Interface. An authorization flaw was found in Pacemaker before 1.1.16, where it did not properly guard its IPC interface. An attacker with an unprivileged account on a Pacemaker node could use this flaw to, for example, force the Local Resource Manager daemon to execute a script as root and thereby gain root access on the machine.
The bug was discovered 08/24/2016. The weakness was disclosed 09/10/2018 with Red Hat (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-7035 since 08/23/2016. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
