A vulnerability was found in Dell EMC RSA BSAFE Crypto-J and RSA BSAFE SSL-J up to 6.2.3 and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component PKCS #1 Handler. RSA BSAFE Crypto-J versions prior to 6.2.4 and RSA BSAFE SSL-J versions prior to 6.2.4 contain a Covert Timing Channel vulnerability during PKCS #1 unpadding operations, also known as a Bleichenbacher attack. A remote attacker may be able to recover a RSA key.
The bug was discovered 09/05/2018. The weakness was shared 09/11/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-11070 since 05/14/2018. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1600 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
