The RAND_bytes function in libssh before 0.6.3, when forking is enabled, does not properly reset the state of the OpenSSL pseudo-random number generator (PRNG), which causes the state to be shared between children processes and allows local users to obtain sensitive information by leveraging a pid collision.

The weakness was shared 03/05/2014 by Aris Adamantiadis as libssh 0.6.3 (Security release) as confirmed release notes (Website). The advisory is shared at libssh.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-0017 since 12/03/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
