A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Google Android up to 8.1 (Smartphone Operating System). This issue affects the function Attachment of the file Attachment.java. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. In Attachment of Attachment.java and getFilePath of EmlAttachmentProvider.java, there is a possible Elevation of Privilege due to a path traversal error. This could lead to a remote escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.
