CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Zend Framework 1.12.3 (Programming Tool Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component ZendOpenId/Zend_OpenId. The manipulation as part of a OpenID Provider leads to a data processing vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-19. Impacted is integrity.

The weakness was released 03/21/2014 by Lukas Reschke, Christian Mainka and Vladislav Mladenov as ZF2014-02 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at framework.zend.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-2681 since 03/30/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The advisory points out:

To realize the attack, we set up a malicious OpenID Provider (e.g. "http://openid.evil.com") that is able to generate valid OpenID tokens containing arbitrary openid.identifier and openid.claimed_id values. At that point, we can successfully authenticate with the issued identity controlled by our Identity Provider, e.g. "http://openid.evil.com?identity=bob". This confirms that our Identity Provider works correctly. Then we log out. Afterwards, we start the same login procedure, i.e. we submit the same Identity again ("http://openid.evil.com?identity=bob"). According to the OpenID specification, we are redirected to our Identity Provider ("http://openid.evil.com"). But this time, we configure our Identity Provider to ignore the requested identity ("http://openid.evil.com?identity=bob") and instead use a victim's identity (e.g. openid.claimed_id=http://victim.myopenid.com/, openid.identity=http://victim.myopenid.com/, and additionally op_endpoint=http://www.myopenid.com/server).

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 73447 (Mandriva Linux Security Advisory : php-ZendFramework (MDVSA-2014:072)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Mandriva Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 350352 (Amazon Linux Security Advisory for php-ZendFramework: ALAS-2014-377).

Upgrading to version 1.12.4 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 3 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (92093), Tenable (73447), EUVD (EUVD-2022-2288), SecurityFocus (BID 66358†) and Secunia (SA57276†). Entries connected to this vulnerability are available at VDB-12715, VDB-68619, VDB-68620 and VDB-68621. Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
