A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in ASUSTOR ADM 3.1.1. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component URL Handler. The manipulation of the argument file1 with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory Traversal in File Explorer in ASUSTOR ADM version 3.1.1 allows attackers to view arbitrary files by modifying the "file1" URL parameter, a similar issue to CVE-2018-11344.
The bug was discovered 10/25/2018. The weakness was disclosed 12/04/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at blog.securityevaluators.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-12306 since 06/13/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
