A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Google Chrome up to 70.0.3538.110 (Web Browser). Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Canvas. Incorrect, thread-unsafe use of SkImage in Canvas in Google Chrome prior to 71.0.3578.80 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 12/04/2018. The weakness was presented 12/11/2018 by Guang Gong with Qihoo 360 (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-18338 since 10/15/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
